Hard to believe that it’s August already! Very excited that just around the corner is WorldCon – the longest running science fiction convention in the world, taking place this year in Dublin, Ireland – one of my favourite places to visit!
I’m delighted to be speaking at a few panels so if you’re there, please do come out and say hi! There may also be some early copies of UNLEASHED (the sequel to JINXED) for sale there, so be sure to check that out… and I’ll be happy to sign one, either at my official autographing session or if you catch me at any of my other events.
Writing for children
15 Aug 2019, Thursday 15:00 – 15:50, Wicklow Hall 2B (CCD)
The process used in writing literature for children is different from those for young adult and adult fiction, as are many of the elements needed. What are those elements? How do authors adjust their style? And how do they avoid the ultimate mistake of talking down to a child?

The role of fantastical creatures
17 Aug 2019, Saturday 15:30 – 16:20, Odeon 3 (Point Square Dublin)
Whether they are protectors or dangerous beasts to be feared, children’s literature is filled with creatures of all kinds: big creatures, small creatures, thin creatures, tall creatures. From Pantalaimon to the Grinch, the Dementors, Winnie-the-Pooh, and more, we will take a special look at the fantastical literary creatures of children’s fiction.
